About the American Council of Young Political Leaders
One of our grant partners, American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL), brings delegations of leaders from around the world to the U.S. to promote cultural exchange, public diplomacy, and growth among leaders at home and abroad. In a typical year, one or two delegations of leaders come to Colorado along with a trip to Washington, D.C., and since 1993, El Pomar staff and Fellows have supported the delegates’ experience while in our state. Just as Spencer Penrose brought visitors to The Broadmoor from the east coast and elsewhere to experience the majesty of Colorado, El Pomar carries on this tradition of showcasing the Pikes Peak region for these international leaders.
How does El Pomar support ACYPL?
To date, El Pomar Foundation has hosted more than 70 delegations from 40 countries, introducing nearly 500 international participants to Colorado state and local government, policymaking, and politics, as well as American culture. Delegations to Colorado have met with governors, attorneys general, state legislators, municipal leaders, and other civic leaders. El Pomar staff and Fellows create the itinerary for each delegation and support delegates throughout their visits. Additionally, a number of El Pomar staff have been members of ACYPL delegations to other countries.
